New York January 12, 2012– Kosher wines from all corners of the world and dishes from more than 20 tri-state kosher restaurants and caterers will be the centerpiece of the Sixth Annual Kosher Food and Wine Experience at Pier 60/Chelsea Piers on Monday, February 13, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Kosher Food and Wine Experience (#KFWE2012) is the most comprehensive tasting of kosher wines in North America and will showcase more than 200 wines from 40 wine producers as well as an extensive selection of kosher liqueurs. Open to the public, admission to KFWE2012 is $100 per person. Visit http://kfwe2012.com to reserve.
According to organizers, last year’s event sold out a week in advance with more than 1000 paid attendees. “This year we are expecting a similar crowd and tickets are selling even faster” noted Mordy Herzog, Executive Vice President of Royal Wine Corp., KFWE2012’s sponsor. A by-invitation preview tasting for wine and spirits industry professionals and journalists will take place from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Follow events at Twitter.com @KFWE2012.
Debuting at KFWE2012 will be several new wines including Pacifica Brands from Oregon, the first exclusively kosher winery in the Pacific Northwest, a new Herzog single vineyard wine from Napa’s Mt. Veeder and an “Old Vine” Cabernet from The Cave in Israel.
“Many people think of Israeli wines when it comes to kosher, and there are some outstanding wines being produced there. But the truth is, there are top-notch kosher wines made all over the world, many of which will be featured at the Kosher Food and Wine Experience. Premier kosher wines are being produced in Australia, Chile, France, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Spain, New Zealand and the USA, offering an ever-growing selection of wines for both kosher wine drinkers and aficionados of exceptional wines.” noted Herzog. With Passover coming up in early April, the Kosher Food and Wine Experience offers wine drinkers more options to discover and serve at their Seders.
Complementing the array of wines from all over the world will be some of the tri-state area’s premier kosher restaurants and caterers. “The same way consumers have demanded higher quality kosher wines, their expectations for food to match has risen too. I’m biased to the wines but must say every year the food gets better!” said Herzog. Some of the restaurants and caterers participating this year are: Le Marais, ETC Steakhouse, Pardes, Gemstone Caterers and Pomegranate.
New to KFWE2012 are guest mixologists concocting cocktails from a selection of liqueurs and semi-sweet wines, one of the hottest segments in the wine market. Brands featured include Italy’s Bartenura, Israel’s Morad Fruit wines, Netherland’s Walder’s liqueurs and Schmerlings from Israel.
